Cender, Joan Elizabeth Schaer

Joan Elizabeth Cender passed away January 21, 2020 @ Gibson City Annex. Joan was born June 4, 1936 in Fisher, the daughter of the late Maurie & Inez (Heiser) Schaer. She married Robert Joseph Cender on Sept. 8, 1956.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie (Kenny) Beachey, grandchildren Jessi (Tara) Hurless, Nathan (Ashley) Beachey, and great grandchild, Hazel Hurless. Also surviving is a sister, Ginny Oyer. Joan was proceeded in death by her husband, Bob and son Maurie.
Joan was an active member of the East Bend Mennonite Church, Fisher, all her life. She was also active in the community, working as secretary in the local Dr's office for many years. In 1987 she became an Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the College of Communication at the U of I. Joan enjoyed working with the students and was an avid fan of the fighting Illini basketball team. Joan excelled at baking, playing organ/piano, singing and enjoyed sharing Christ's love with others through the gospel group she was a part of called The Reflections. She was an avid Cubs fan, loved fishing and vacations with her friends and always enjoyed spending time with her family, spoiling them with her baking. But most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and wanted everyone to know of His saving Grace! In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to East Bend Mennonite Church, P.O. Charles, Elsie Newcomer Mellinger
April 10, 1930 - November 15, 2020
Elsie N. Mellinger Charles, 90, of Strasburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the home of her son Arthur Mellinger.
She was the wife of the late Roy H. Charles for twenty-one years. Her first husband, Albert Mellinger, died in 1991. Born in Manor Township, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Ida Leaman Newcomer.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by three sons, Robert (Nancy), Quarryville, Richard (Karen), Lancaster, and Arthur (Becky), Strasburg; stepchildren, James Charles, Millersville and Anna (Dwight) Houser, Glenfield, NY; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother Edward Newcomer, Idaho, sister Miriam (James) Haverstick, Lancaster, and sister-in-law Mary Newcomer, Bellefontaine, OH.
She was preceded in death by brothers Earl Newcomer and Arthur Newcomer.
Elsie worked as a bookkeeper for Educators Mutual Insurance Company and kept records for the dairy farm and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed balancing the books to the penny. In later years, she prepared food at John Herr Market and Strasburg Market Basket. She was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church.
Elsie will be remembered for her love of family, her quiet and gentle spirit, her smile, and baking whoopie pies.
A viewing will take place Saturday November 21st from 9:30 to 11 AM, followed by the Funeral at 11 AM with Rev. John D. Meck officiating, at Strasburg Mennonite Church, 1514 Village Rd., Strasburg, PA. The service will be available to view through a Live Stream link on Elsie's obituary page on BachmanSnyder.com.
Interment in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Charles, Miriam Ebersole
December 11, 1926 - May 23, 2020
Miriam Ebersole Charles, 93, of Manor Township, entered Glory on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her home, following a brief illness. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Christian S. and Susan (Shenk) Ebersole. She was married for 68 years to the late David Arthur Charles who passed away in 2015. Miriam loved life with all her heart, loved music, reading, sewing, walking in the woods, children, her family, and loved meeting new people. She prayed every day for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a list of others in her life who she felt needed an extra touch of God's grace. Miriam was a born organizer and planner, whether at church, school or at home with her family. She was part of the second graduating class from Lancaster Mennonite School in 1944 and remained a strong advocate for Mennonite education. She taught elementary students at Manor Mennonite School and was a music teacher at Kraybill Mennonite School and New Danville Mennonite School. Miriam and her husband managed a farm in Manor Township. She served in many roles at Habecker Mennonite Church. She taught Sunday School, served as president of the Manor Sewing Circle, volunteered at the Columbia ReUzit Store, and with Hospice. For twenty years she retouched photographs for Charles Studio. She lived her entire life in Lancaster County, but she opened her home to people from all over the world, embracing everyone who stopped at her doorstep. Over the years, she and Arthur welcomed refugees from Eastern Europe, Vietnam, and Burma, helping them to start new lives in this country.
Surviving are her children: David (Martha) Charles, Lancaster; Anita Ranck (David Kindy), Winston-Salem, NC; Jonathan (Rhoda) Charles, Lancaster; Sharyn (Lowell) Tieszen, Harrisonburg, VA; and Dan (Brigid McCarthy) Charles, Washington, DC. Thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Brother: David (Mary Ann) Ebersole. Sisters-in-law: Grace Ebersole and Martha Charles Sangree. She was preceded in death by brother: Ernest Ebersole and two sisters: Nyla Witmer and Ethel Metzler, and a son-in-law: Marlyn Ranck.
A Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family. An online memorial service will take place in the coming weeks. Please contact family members for details. The family plans to hold a hymn sing in her memory next year. Memorial gifts can be made to: Habecker Mennonite Church for the Karen Scholarship Fund at Lancaster Mennonite School. Christner, Amanda M. Yoder
April 26, 1924 - November 2, 2020
Amanda M. Christner, 96, of Topeka, died at 7:15 pm on Monday, November 2, at her residence. She was born on April 26, 1924 in Topeka to Martin and Lovina (Yoder) Yoder. On January 4, 1970 in Topeka she married Uriah D. Christner; he died October 31, 2003.
Surviving are stepdaughter, Wilma (Elva) Lambright of Topeka; five step grandchildren; 22 step great- grandchildren; sister, Ida Christner of Mongo; two half-sisters, Susie Schlabach of Goshen and Katie (Amos) Miller of Middlebury.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Emma (Bontrager) Yoder; brother, Elmer Yoder; two sisters, Amelia Yoder and Barbara Yoder; a step sister and three step brothers; brother-in-law, Kenneth Christner; half brother-in-law, Jesse Schlabach.
Amanda was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3, all day Wednesday, November 4, at Martin Lambright Residence, 5645 W. 500 South Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Thursday, November 5, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop LeRoy Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
Christner, Catherine I.
October 4, 1941 - December 13, 2020
Catherine I. Christner, Meadvile formerly of Cochranton area passed away early Sunday morning, December 13, 2020 at the Embassy at Park Avenue, Meadville. She was 79.
Catherine was born in Cochranton on October 4, 1941 a daughter of the late Leland and Mary Ellen (Yoder) Christner. She had been employed as a nurse at the Meadville Medical Center and was of the Christian faith.
Catherine is survived by 3 sisters, Miriam Benson of Poway, CA, Alice Gingerich and her husband David of Uniontown, Ohio and Juanita Christner of N. Canton, OH.; two brothers, John Leland Christner and his wife Sharon of Meadville and Timothy L. Christner and his wife Wilma of Fairfield, Montana and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a siser, Nancy Jane Pipper; 3 brothers, Stephan Paul Christner, Andrew L. Christner and James L. Christner.
Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, private family services will be held at the Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 3223 Perry Hwy., Sheakleyville. She will be laid to rest at the Maple Grove Amish Mennonite Cemetery, Deer Creek Twp.
Christener, Christy Jean
May 15, 1922 - October 28, 2020
Christy Jean Christner, 98, of Shelbyville, Illinois passed away at 6:57 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center.
Private family graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, near Shelbyville, Illinois with Rev. Randy Miller officiating and Darren Kennell as eulogist. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, Illinois was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N Broadway, Shelbyville, Illinois 62565.
Christy was born on May 15, 1922, in Corfu, NY, the son of Joseph Davis and Emma (Eigsti) Christner. Christy was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during World War II. He was a farmer and a self-employed carpenter. Christy later worked as a carpenter for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville. He was a member of the former Mount Hermon Mennonite Church in rural Shelbyville, Illinois where he served as Bishop, and later attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. Christy enjoyed riding bikes, walking the Dacey Trail and spending time with his family. He married Ellen J. Eash on September 6, 1947, and she preceded him in death on March 1, 2020.
Christy is survived by his daughters, Sharon Chupp (Olen) of Goshen, IN, and Shirley Kennell of Shelbyville, IL; sons, John Christner of Shelbyville, IL, David Christner of Sarasota, FL, Kenneth Christner of Shelbyville, IL, and Dennis Christner (Deia) of Poland, ME; brother, Jake Christner of Roanoke, IL; sisters, Gloria Christner of Roanoke, IL, Barbara Hostettler (Ervin) of Roanoke, IL, and Emily Kennell of Sarasota, FL; 14 grandchildren, Christy Chupp (Martha) of Goshen, IN, Ellen Bontrager (Leon) of Middlebury, IN, Treva Olivero of Louisiana, Lamar Chupp (Brandi) of Bristol, IN, Mark Kennell (Karen) of Rogersville, MO, Darren Kennell (Amber) of Mattoon, IL, Harlan Kennell (Danielle) of Coal City, IL, Kurt Kennell (Courtney) of Indian Trail, NC, Jacob Christner (Aimee) of Shelbyville, IL, Clayton Christner (Brittney) of St. Charles, MO, Joshua Christner of Ocala, FL, LaKretia Macias (Ray) of Morton, IL, Hayden Christner of Poland, ME, and Kaleb Christner of Poland, ME; 33 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

June 18, 1932 - July 9, 2020
Franklin D. Christner, 88, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, July 09, 2020. Franklin was born on June 18, 1932, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Joe D. and Emma Eigsti Christner.
Franklin was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandchildren, neighbor, and friend. He worked as a carpenter most all his life.
Franklin is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Virginia; brother, Joe; sisters, Lavina and Luella; grandchildren, Mandi, Forrest, Scott, Phebe, and Thaddeus; and four great grandchildren.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Sarah Miller Christner, of the home; eight sons, Douglas (Darlene) Christner, of Warm Springs, Stanley (Lorraine) Christner, of Sedalia, Missouri, Justin (Debbie) Christner, of Altus, Jim (Laura) Christner, of Pocahontas, Frank (Esther) Christner Jr., of Pocahontas, Arnold (Mary) Christner, of Ravenden Springs, Stephen (Darlene) Christner, of Ravenden Springs, and Nathaniel (Renae) Christner, of Pocahontas; three daughters, Shelby (Jerry) Eigsti, of Sedalia, Missouri, Gloria (Mathew) Eigsti, of Hughesville, Missouri, and Lovina (Rufus) Yoder, of Sedalia, Missouri; seventy-one grandchildren; one-hundred sixty-three great grandchildren; two brothers, Christy and Jake; and three sisters, Gloria, Barbara, and Emily.
Visitation for Franklin Christner will be at the Mt. Salem School, in the Hamil Community, in northern Randolph County, Arkansas, on Saturday, July 11, 2020, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Franklin's funeral service will be held at the Mt. Salem Church, in the Hamil Community, in northern Randolph County, Arkansas, beginning at 10:00 am, on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Burial will follow in the Mt. Salem Cemetery.
Franklin's grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

June 21, 1939 - February 10, 2020
Amanda Chupp, age 80, of Nappanee, passed away in the loving arms of her daughter, surrounded by family, at 11:52 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2020 at Goshen Hospital. She was born June 21, 1939 in Kosciusko County, to Levi J. and Elizabeth (Hershberger) Kuhns.
On April 2, 1963 she married LaMar F. Chupp. He preceded her in death September 16, 1980. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Chupp, Nappanee; siblings, Eli Kuhns, Etna Green, Edna Miller, Etna Green, Alvin (Verna) Kuhns, Shipshewana, Freeman (Irene) Kuhns, Milford; sister-in-law, Clara Kuhns, Kingston, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Susan Jane Chupp; 2 stillborn brothers; sisters, Malinda Miller, Emma Miller; and brothers, Roman and Melvin Kuhns.
Family and friends may call after 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2020 and after 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 12th at James Hochstetler residence (7245 W. 1350 N). Funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 13th at James Hochstetler residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Graber Cemetery.

Elva E. Chupp, 61, of Humboldt, Illinois passed away at 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Levi A. Kaufman residence, 5123 E CR 1600 N in Rural Humboldt, IL. Bishop Phillip Schrock will officiate. Burial will be in the Bagdad Cemetery. Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 20 and any time after 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 21, 2020 all at the Levi Kaufman residence. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Elva was born on September 15, 1959 in Tuscola, IL. He was a son of Ervin M. and Elizabeth J. (Hostetler) Chupp. He married Alta Hochstetler on December 29, 1977 in Arcola, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Alta Chupp of Humboldt, IL, four children, Leona Kay Schrock and her husband Lavern of Arthur, IL, Lavon Ray Chupp and his wife Denise of Arcola, IL, Susan E. Plank and her husband Glendon of Arthur, IL and Larry E. Chupp and his wife Leah of Humboldt, IL, 29 grandchildren, his mother, Elizabeth Chupp of Arthur, IL, two brothers, Willis E. Chupp and his wife Fannie Mae of Arcola, IL and Glen Ray Chupp and his wife Betty of Sullivan, IL, and five sisters, Katie Viola Gingerich and her husband Lester of Arthur, IL, Dorothy Marie Farmwald and her husband John Lee of Sullivan, IL, Carolyn Kay Mast and her husband Reuben of Campbell Hill, IL, Bertha Lorene Diener and her husband Larry of Arthur, IL and Loretta Ann Herschberger and her husband Marlin of Humboldt, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Chupp, two nephews and one niece.
Elva was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith and served as a Minister.
Elva had been a farrier for over 45 years and he also farmed.

Loretta N. Chupp, 74, of Topeka, died at 2:50 am, on Thursday, November 5 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. She was born on October 19, 1946, in LaGrange County, to Nathaniel "Sacky" N. and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Miller. On June 5, 1969 in Topeka, she married Melvin R. Chupp; he died August 16, 2019.
Surviving are two sons, Gary (Lisa) Chupp of Goshen, Michael (Anita Rose) Chupp of Topeka; four daughters, Mary Sue (Freeman, Jr.) Lehman of Shipshewana, Ruth (Jonathon) Bontrager of Topeka, Elaine (Johnny) Lambright of Goshen, Sharon (Gerald) Nisley of Middlebury; 22 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, LeAnna (Ezra) Schmucker of Nappanee, Sara (John) Wingard of Topeka; brother, Larry N. (Patti) Miller of Wolcottville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Dawn Chupp.
Loretta was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Friday, November 6 and all day Saturday, November 7 at the family residence, 5160 S. 500 W., Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Sunday, November 8 at the Nelson Miller residence, 5355 S. 500 W., Topeka. Services will be conducted by the home ministers. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.
Chupp, Sharon K. Stutzman
November 29, 1944 - august 4, 2020
Sharon K. Chupp, 75, of Elkhart, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Goshen on November 29, 1944 to the late Alvin and Nettie (Deeter) Stutzman.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, James Chupp; sons, Mark (Mariah) Chupp of Elkhart and Terry (Deborah) Chupp of Goshen; grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Haynes, Collin (Meghan) Chupp, Jadon (Barbara) Chupp, Kalin Chupp, Jocelyn Chupp (Shane Miller), Nathan Chupp, and Katherine Chupp; and great grandson, Benjamin Haynes. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lamar and Robert Stutzman; and sister, Carol Ann Walls.
Visitation will take place on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 9-11 a.m. at Living Faith Fellowship Church, 2601 Benham Ave, Elkhart, IN 46517. Services will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eric Atzigen officiating. A burial will follow services at Salem Mennonite Cemetery in New Paris, IN. Sharon was a kind and caring woman who loved the Lord and her family. She married the love of her life, James Chupp, in 1964 in Elkhart County; they spent over 50 wonderful years of marriage beside one another. Sharon was a paraprofessional at Concord Schools for eight years before retiring in 2011. She was most proud of her achievements as an award-winning artist whose artwork was known throughout Elkhart County and beyond. Sharon will be missed greatly by her family and many friends.

William F. Chupp, age 84, of Nappanee, died at 5:00 am, Monday, July 27, 2020 at his home after a short illness. He was born March 20, 1936 in Kosciusko County to Floyd J. and Mary Ann (Miller) Chupp.
On January 1, 1959, he married Minerva D. Hochstetler. She survives along with their children, Barbara (Timothy) Grove, South Bend, Mary Ann (Daniel) Miller, Etna Green, Alvin (Heather) Chupp,Bourbon, Aden (Mary Sue) Chupp, Nappanee, Ernest (Lora Beth) Chupp, Nappanee, Lydia Ann Chupp, Nappanee, Earl (Lauren) Chupp, Etna Green; 25 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Edna Chupp, Nappanee, Katie Bontrager, Shipshewana, Anna Mae (Melvin) Stutzman, Elva Helmuth,both of Nappanee, Martha (Toby) Yoder, Goshen; brother, Dan Chupp, Nappanee; sisters-in-law, Beverly Chupp, Goshen, Ellen Chupp, Nappanee; step sisters, Kathryn (Eli) Weaver, Ohio, Lena (Albert) Weaver, Pennsylvania; and step brothers, Leroy Miller, Kentucky, and David Miller, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Sovilla Chupp; granddaughter, Elaine Miller; brothers, Elmer, John, Emery, Lamar Chupp; sisters-in-law, Amanda Chupp, Dorothy Chupp; brothers-in-law, Perry Bontrager, Lee Helmuth; and stepsisters and their husbands, Sara (Levi) Hershberger, Savannah Miller, and Dena (David) Troyer.Mr. Chupp lived his lifetime in this area. He was member and minister of the Old Order Amish Church.
Family and friends may call after 1 pm, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 and all day Wednesday, July 29th at the Aden Chupp residence, 9564 W 800 N. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Thursday, July 30th also at the Chupp residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Graber Cemetery.
In accordance with the State of Indiana Back on Track Plan, family and friends are encouraged to follow social distancing protocols and the wearing of masks.
Clark, Jimmie J.
July 5, 1951-August 31, 2020
ELKHART-Jimmie J. Clark, 69, passed away August 31, 2020 at his home in Elkhart. He was born July 5, 1951 in Sikeston, Missouri to Cethas Clark & Ollie B. (Causey) Taylor.
On March 24, 1973 he married Paula Hartman; she survives along with 2 children, Nicholas Clark, Crystal Clark, 4 grandchildren, Bryce, Brayden, Brenna and Brody. Also surviving are 6 siblings, Maybelle Lacey, Rita Davis both of South Bend, Ruth Bloch-Wiley, Mary (Wayne) Malone, Mangle (Ann) Causey, Charles Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings, Dorothy Powell, Chinese “C.C.” Taylor, Robert Taylor, Jr., III and Homer L. Taylor.
Jimmie was an active member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. There he was a Sunday School teacher for many years, youth group sponsor, member of men’s fellowship, part of prison ministry and also a lifeline basketball coach. He graduated from Elkhart Central High School Class of 1970 and attended their monthly breakfast as well. In 1968 he played football for Central and they won state. Jimmie was also an avid Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about the good old days.
Services and burial for Jimmie will be private.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church.

Lois J. Clugston, 85, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Sunday, August 2nd, at Maugansville Mennonite Home, Hagerstown, Md.
Lois was born in Camp Hill, PA on March 23, 1935, a daughter of the late Mabel Elizabeth (Benner) and Elmer Henry Hertzler. She was the wife of Warren E. Clugston, whom she was happily married to for sixty four years.
Lois graduated from the Mechanicsburg High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain View Mennonite Church McConnellsburg, PA .

She is also survived by thirty two grandchildren and fourty eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Arlene Ebersole, brother Kenneth Hertzler and two grandchildren.

Miriam Rose (Breneman Shank) Coblentz, age 67 years, 10 months and 29 days, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. She was the wife of William (Bill) J. Coblentz.
Miriam was born in Elida, Ohio on Dec. 22, 1952, to Mabel (Bear) and the late Charles A. Breneman.
On June 22, 1985, she married the late Sterling Shank, son of Merna (Brenneman) and the late Sanford Shank of Harrisonburg, Va. Sterling died on April 13, 1991. No children were born to this union.
On Sept. 14, 1996, when Miriam married Bill, son of the late Jonas and Lydia (Miller) Coblentz, she not only became a wife again, but also mom, mother-in-law, and grandma. She was a vital part of the Coblentz family for 24 years and 2 months. At the time of her death, they lived in Advance, Mo., where she was a member of the Crowley Ridge Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by three sons: Wayne (Sharon), Tim (Laura), Jonathan (Sara), and four daughters: Judy (Ed) Jones, Tina (Wayne) Schrock, Lisa (Jay) Weaver, Darlene (Joel) Martin; one daughter-in-law, Jenny (Lavern Coblentz) Headings; her mother, Mabel Amstutz; one sister, Esther (Elowayne) Mast; one brother, Samuel (Irene) Breneman; mother-in-law, Merna Shank; 38 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a number of in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Sterling, her father Charles, son Lavern and great-granddaughter Megan.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. (CST—10:30 AM EST). Both the viewing and funeral will be held at the Crowley Ridge Mennonite Church, Advance, Mo.
A graveside service and burial will be held at the Pike Mennonite Church Cemetery, Harrisonburg, Va., on Nov. 26, 2020, at 3 p.m.
Coblentz, Rosemary Ropp
October 25, 1957 - October 1, 2020
Mrs. Rosemary Ropp Coblentz, age 62 yrs. 11 month 6 days of Guthrie passed away Friday evening, October 1st at Tennova Health Care in Clarksville, Tennessee following injuries following an accident.
She was born October 25, 1957 in Kalona, Iowa. Daughter of Chester and Annie Yoder Ropp.
She accepted Christ in her youth and was a member of the South District Amish Church, she loved her family, gardening, sewing and quilting.
On November 9, 1989 she was united in marriage to Sam Coblentz. They lived in matrimony for nearly 31 years.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1970 and a sister Lorena Ropp Miller in 2019.
She will be missed by her husband Sam Coblentz of Guthrie, daughter Suetta Anne Coblentz and friend Amos Mast of Guthrie, stepchildren Wilma Joann Coblentz, Martha Rose Coblentz of Guthrie, Lavina Kay Coblentz of Olmstead, Glen and Ginger Coblentz of Hopkinsville and granddaughter Carrie Marie Coblentz.
She is also survived by her mother Annie Ropp of Kalona, Iowa three brothers, Earl Ropp (Emma), Wayne Ropp (Dorothy) and Monroe Ropp (Orpha) all of Kalona, Iowa. And a brother in law Alvin S. Miller from Munnsville, New York as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the Coblentz family will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 5:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 at the South District Amish Church. Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Monday morning at 10:00 at the South District Amish Church with Minister Marvin Kanagy officiating, interment will follow in the South District Amish Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank everyone for the many prayers, acts of love, and kindness shown to them during this time of sudden grief.
De Jong, Siegelinde Brunhilde Hinz, 86, of Virgil, Ontario, Canada died February 11, 2020 at the same place. She was born July 31, 1933 at Free City State of Danzig to Herbert and Kaethe (van Bergen) Hinz. On September 6, 1959 at North Newton, KS she was married to Hielke De Jong, who survives.
Surviving are children, Walter (Darlene), Werner (Joanne) and Margaret (Jeff); five grandchildren, a sister, Heide Siegried Klassen and a brother, Armin Norbert Hinz.
A sister, Gudrun Kriemhilde Woelcke, preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held February 15, 2020 at Bethany Mennonite Church, Virgil, Ontario with burial in Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON.
Denlinger, Miriam L. Landis

Miriam L. Denlinger, 96, of United Zion Retirement Community, formerly of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 10, 2020. Her husband Irvin Denlinger passed ahead of her on Dec. 26, 2019, having celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth Leaman Landis. Miriam was a farm homemaker most of her life. She was a wonderful cook and baker, often entertaining big groups of friends and family. She was a great gardener and had a green thumb with all her many plants. She enjoyed playing the piano.
Miriam was a member of Farm Women and the Sewing Circle of Landis Valley Mennonite Church where she was a life member. Together with her husband Irvin, they did extensive traveling. She worked as a secretary at the Mennonite Home.
She is survived by: her two daughters, Linda married to David Dowd, Lancaster, Deborah married to Clair Esbenshade, Beaver Springs, PA; three sons, Ronald married to Carole Denlinger, Elkhart, IN, Larry married to Linda Denlinger, Lancaster, and Bryan married to Norma Denlinger, Morgantown; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Hoover.
Funeral services will be private with interment following in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
Deputy, Ronald LeRoy, Sr.
March 22, 1939 - May 5, 2020
Ronald LeRoy Deputy Sr., 81, of Singers Glen, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at his residence. Mr. Deputy was born March 22, 1939, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Timothy Oliver and Ruth (Weaver) Deputy.
He started his career at Shenandoah Manufacturing before he became owner of Early Equipment Company. Ronald enjoyed woodworking. He loved the outdoors and listening to music. His mourning for his wife has ended and they are now in eternity together. He was a lifelong member of Weavers Mennonite Church.
On Sept. 5, 1959, he married the former Lelia Eberly, who preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2010.
Ronald is survived by his children, Ronald Deputy Jr. and wife, Young Kim Deputy, of Indian Trail, N.C., Reba Deputy Heizer and husband, David, of Fairfield, Va., Anthony Deputy of Singers Glen, Raleigh Deputy and wife, Shandra Matters Deputy, of Rockingham; a brother, Merlin Deputy and wife, Jackie; grandchildren, Benjamin Heizer, Leah Heizer, Emily Heizer, Levi Heizer, Matthew Deputy, Megan Deputy Cooper; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Deputy; and a brother-in-law, Mark Lehman. In addition to his wife and parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his siblings, Lowell “Buck” Deputy, Margaret Lehman, Emily Deputy, and an infant sister, Mary Ellen Deputy.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
The burial will be held privately.

Derstine, Maxine Troyer

Maxine Troyer Derstine, 94, of Dock Woods Community, Lansdale, Pennsylvania, formerly of Blooming Glen, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020.
She was the beloved wife of the late David F. Derstine, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born Nov. 21, 1925, in Shipshewana, she was the daughter of the late Jerry C. Troyer and Lizzie Mishler Troyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and five sisters, Inez Hostetler, James Troyer, Dorothy Hershberger, Francis Troyer, Esther Schmucker, Rachel Klawitter and Genevieve Northage; as well as several nephews.
A graduate of Shipshewana High School, Maxine was honored as her class Valedictorian. She attended Goshen College, where she met her future husband, David. Graduating from Goshen College with an Associate degree in 1945, she married him in December of that year. This began six decades of partnering alongside her husband in a variety of meaningful endeavors.
As newlyweds, Maxine and David began nearly three years of service with Mennonite Central Committee, managing relief and rebuilding efforts in post war Belgium. In 1951, Maxine began her role as pastor's wife when David was ordained at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church in Pennsylvania. While raising a family, they shared in that ministry for 25 years. Maxine was a treasured and gifted assistant to her busy husband, a quiet strength in many seen and unseen ways. She lived a life of humility and self-sacrifice, tending to their children and homemaking responsibilities, while often hosting overnight guests and preparing delicious Sunday noon dinners for company. She was a most gracious hostess. Having a gift for singing, Maxine enjoyed participating in a women's quartet and a mixed chorus, providing special music for church worship services. She was also a committed member of the Grand View Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, engaging in support with her Blooming Glen community friends.
Retirement from the pastorate at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church brought new opportunities for Maxine. With knowledge and understanding of her husband's new position as Director of Development for the future Dock Woods Community, Maxine was his partner again, supporting and assisting him in his demanding work. She was eventually employed by Dock Woods Community, processing applications for entering Dock Village and Dock Manor.
The adventure of travel brought great joy to Maxine and David as they hosted many travel groups to destinations around the world. She was the detail person, working to make sure things went well.
The move to their Dock Gardens apartment was an exciting event, one that brought Maxine and her husband new friends and meaningful interactions for 11 years together. Here she joyfully served as treasurer for many years on the Spiritual Life Committee. Following David's death, she lived there for 13 more years, but as her health declined, she moved to Oakwood Court for a year and most recently to Harmony House and Dock Terrace. The COVID-19 pandemic obviously impacted her life in a most sorrowful way. Maxine was lovingly cared for by her nurses, aides, support staff and Grand View Hospice. Her family is forever grateful for all those who touched her life at Dock Woods.
Family was always paramount to Maxine. On most Sunday evenings, the family would gather at her apartment. Here she continued to serve and show love to her children and any grands or great-grands who could come. She was deeply interested in their lives, always supportive and encouraging, and happy to welcome an overnight guest. It was also important to her to keep in contact with those at a distance with phone calls and cards. Her generous, kind, care-giver spirit was eager to bless her family and others.
Maxine is survived by her four children, Anne Ehst (Ken), Daryl Derstine (Julie), Barbara Weirich (Gordon) and John Derstine (Sheryl); 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Thelma Swartzendruber, Arlin Hunsberger and Joe and Rachel Cressman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service is scheduled, with plans for a future gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life. Deter, Clayton LaVerne, 90, of Morrison, Whiteside Co., IL died January 14, 2020 at the same place. He was born December 21, 1929 at Morrison to Daniel S. and Violetta (Nice) Deter. On July 7, 1950 at Sterling, IL he was married to Dorrine Jane Bos, who was born August 31, 1930 and died January 1, 2019.
Surviving are three sons, Rod (Tammy) Deter; Russ (Amy) Deter; and Rick (Glenda) Deter; eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A son, Randy Deter and siblings, Savilla Deter, Elcy Ann Deter, William Deter, and Melvin Deter preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 20, 2020 at Science Ridge Mennonite Church, Sterling, Whiteside Co., IL with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Detweiler, Ruth Kauffman
September 26, 1935 - January 6, 2020
Ruth Detweiler, 84, of Landis Homes, Lititz, died on January 6, 2020. She was born on September 26, 1935 in West Liberty, Ohio to David and Olive (Hartzler) Kauffman. Ruth will be dearly missed by her husband of 62 years, Lowell; her children Cheryl (Brent) Kaufman of Lancaster and Steven (Barbara) Detweiler of Akron; and her granddaughter Maria Detweiler of Lancaster.
For many of us who knew Ruth and her interests, these words come to mind: flowers, family, mental health, crafts, advocate, volunteering, listener, and travel.
Ruth grew up on a farm in western Ohio, the only daughter with five brothers. Is it any wonder she became a tomboy playing softball, hide and seek among the hay bales in the barn, and milking her favorite cow by hand? She never hesitated to argue that Guernsey cows are better than Holsteins! She was also her mother's primary helper around the house, and participated in youth activities at her home church, South Union Mennonite.
After she graduated from West Liberty High School, Ruth attended Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Elementary Education. She and Lowell married in 1957 and entered their first term of service as teachers in a two-room schoolhouse with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in Newfoundland, Canada. They returned to Ruth's home community where Cheryl was born, and Steve was adopted into their family. The family had many adventures while living in Tanzania, East Africa for Ruth and Lowell's second term of service with MCC from 1968-1971.
When they returned from East Africa, they settled in Akron, Pennsylvania where Ruth became hostess at MCC headquarters and then served as Global Family Program Coordinator for 14 years.
Ruth found herself drawn to numerous volunteer involvements such as Contact, Encounter, and Hospice CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) in several local hospitals. She was a committed member of Akron Mennonite Church where she served various terms on the Pastoral Team, Congregational Life, and Christian Education Committees and Church Council.
Ruth loved nature, especially flowers and snow, and she delighted in creating beauty with her hands. She prized her flower gardens and enjoyed sharing the splendor of their abundance with others. There were always colorful vases of fresh flowers from her garden all over her home. She also enjoyed crafting of all sorts: knitting, quilling, crocheting, and Scherenschnitte to name a few. She was a talented seamstress, and one of the treasures she created was her daughter's wedding dress.
From her own experience with depression, Ruth had a special passion for assisting people dealing with mental illness/health concerns. As a result, Ruth and Lowell founded No Longer Alone Ministries (NLAM) to provide support and services to individuals with mental illness and their families. Ruth also served many years on the Philhaven board of directors. She spent countless hours listening to others with compassion, acceptance and love.
For her years of commitment to mental health advocacy, Ruth was honored with two meaningful accolades. In 2002, she received a GOAL – Go On And Live – Award given to ten volunteers nationwide. In 2004, she was recognized by the Fulton Opera House with their "Women Who Care Award." Both were presented to individuals who made a significant difference in their community.
Family members who preceded Ruth's death include an infant son, Douglas Keith; her parents, David and Olive Kauffman of West Liberty, OH; and a brother, Dale Kauffman of Zanesfield, OH. In addition to her immediate family, her living siblings include brothers; Joe (Alona) Kauffman, Warren (Elma) Kauffman and Ken (Jane) Kauffman all of West Liberty, Ohio and Harold Kauffman of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law Irene Kauffman, West Liberty, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 18 at Akron Mennonite Church. An informal visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, January 17 at the Landis Homes Westview Community Room.

Abigail L. Diem, age 29 years, 7 months, 25 days, died Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was the wife of Jonathan Diem. Born July 2, 1990, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, she was the daughter of John J. and Suzanne L. (Warrell) McNally.
She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Jonathan Diem; one daughter, Judith A. Diem, age 7; three brothers, Corey J. (husband of Darla) McNally, Kenton, OH; Joseph D. Diener, Carrie Yoder
February 26, 1917 - June 27, 2020
Carrie’s life journey ended June 27, 2020, at Greencroft’s Evergreen Place. She was very grateful for her family, friends, caregivers, hospice and Creator for her quality of life.
Carrie was born February 26, 1917 to Mary L. (Wingard) and Henry H. Yoder. After her mother and father died, she was nurtured by her siblings and stepmother, Celestia (Bontrager) Yoder. Her three siblings, Beulah (Glen) Yoder, LeRoy (Florence) Yoder, Katherine (Yoder) Fireoved, parents and stepmother preceded her in death.
Carrie was married to Daniel Diener for 62 years. He and their son, Herbie, preceded her in death. She is survived by three children, Darrel (Leona) Diener, Karen (George) Thompson, and Maribeth (Howard) Friesen, all of Goshen; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Lynn) Diener and Denise (Gilberto) Perez Diener, both of Goshen, Davi (Joanna) Moyer-Diener of Rockingham, Pennsylvania, Sarah (Jonathan) Nahar of Syracuse, New York; Mark Thompson of Westville, Amanda (Kyle) Detweiler of Bend, Oregon, Ben (Lindsay) Friesen of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Joseph (Ellen) Friesen of Madison, Wisconsin; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Carrie was an active member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church, Elkhart. She and Daniel served with the Mennonite Board of Mission & Charities (now Mennonite Mission Network) in Calabar, Nigeria for two years and as a Community Home for Oaklawn, Goshen for 10 years. They also volunteered at Menno-Hof, Shipshewana.
Carrie began her teaching in one room schools in Kansas and Indiana. After graduating from Goshen College, she taught in the Jimtown, Concord, Shipshewana and Elkhart school systems.
Carrie’s approach to life resulted from being a lifelong learner. Her reading, varied experiences and Christian commitment affected her acceptance of diversity and change. Her cooking and hospitality were especially appreciated by her many guests.
Carrie actively lived her love for God and others. She readily welcomed, accepted, appreciated, prayed for and assisted others. During her life journey, she modeled how to keep “carrying on” by embracing life and death graciously.
A private graveside service and burial of Carrie’s ashes will be at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

Diffenderfer, Erna June, 68, of New Holland, Lancaster Co., PA died April 28, 2020 at Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA. She was born January 12, 1952 at New Holland, PA to Melvin N. and Elizabeth (Shirk) Diffenderfer.
Surviving siblings: Leroy married to Kathy Eddings Diffenderfer, Kannapolis, NC, Charles married to Dotty Diffenderfer, Muncy, Barbara married to Abe Rissler, East Earl, Darrell married to Barb Groff Diffenderfer, Manheim, Elaine married to Lloyd Hoover, Leola, and Eileen married to Larry Wenger, Lancaster. Also, 20 nieces and nephews; 50 great-nieces and nephews.
She worked at Quilt Expressions of Lancaster Co., volunteered at 10,000 Villages, and was a Friendship Community member resident, New Holland. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, and puzzles. A volunteer for the Bareville Fire Co. Ladies Aux., she was also a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church.

Aden K. Diller, age 93, formerly of Greencastle, PA went home to be with the Lord on Monday March 9, 2020 at Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA. Born April 1, 1926 in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Fannie (Shank) Diller. He married his wife Ruth E. (Shank) Diller on September 8, 1945 in the Marion Mennonite Church. They celebrated 72 years together before her death on February 20, 2018.
Aden was on the advisory board of Northern Youth Ministries, Dryden, Ontario for 30 years. He was one of the founding members of Cove Valley Youth Camp, Mercersburg, PA. He and his wife Ruth, lived at the camp for 13 years, serving as camp director and bookkeeper.
He and his wife owned and operated Diller Potato Chip Company of Greencastle and Sunnyspot Apartments. He worked for E.D. Plummer and Son Construction Co. of Hagerstown and built several houses. Aden served as Pastor of Cedar Street Mennonite Church in Chambersburg for 30 years. He and his wife took bus tours for Atlantic Coast Bus Co. of Hagerstown and hosted 6 trips to the Holy Land, Israel.
He served as president of the Greencastle AARP Chapter for several years. He loved his workshop; making grandfather clocks, canes and many pieces of furniture for family, friends and also wooden toys for his great-grandchildren. His family was important to him and he loved seeing each one from the babies, teens to the adults. “Thanks for coming,” he would say after every visit.
Surviving family are two daughters, Sharon Baer and husband Darrell of Chambersburg, Esther Martin of Chambersburg; two sons, Eugene Diller and wife Fern of Greencastle, James Diller and wife Judy of Hagerstown; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; two siblings, Anna Krouse of Greencastle and Leon Diller of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson Lenwood Martin, a son-in-law Lester Martin, five siblings, Daniel Diller, Ethel Petersheim, Lois Eshleman, Glenn Diller and infant brother Nathan Diller.
A private graveside service will held at Marion Mennonite Church Cemetery. Diller, Mark R., 74, died December 13, 2020. He was a member of the Maple River Mennonite Church [Brutus, MI]. He was the son of the late Amos H. and Fannie H. (Risser) Diller, and the husband of Thelma J. (Martin/Weaver) Diller.

A short service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the Maple River Mennonite School [Brutus, MI.]. The family will receive friends after the service until 8 P.M. at the school. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020, in Pennsylvania, with Brethren David Brubaker, Timothy Leid, Jeffrey Jarmon, and Leroy Zimmerman officiating. Bonita "Bonny" Catherine Landis Driver died on December 24, 2020. She was born May 16, 1924 in Estherville, Iowa and grew up in Alpha, Minnesota, one of nine siblings, daughter of Noah and Ethel Garber Landis.
Bonny attended Hesston Academy in Kansas where she met her future husband, John Driver. She completed nursing studies in 1946 at the Mennonite Hospital School of Nursing in La Junta, Colorado. That same year, Bonny married John and they went to Puerto Rico where she served as a registered nurse at the Mennonite Hospital in La Plata, Puerto Rico assisting with surgery and performing a wide range of clinical responsibilities in the care at the hospital.
In Puerto Rico, Bonny and her husband served under the Mennonite Board of Missions in congregations in La Plata, La Cuchilla, Palo Hincado, San Juan and Aibonito. Bonny and John had three children. In 1967, she and her family moved to Montevideo, Uruguay, where they served approximately 12 years in the Mennonite Seminary. Bonny and her husband also served alongside a number of much-loved communities in Spain, --Madrid, Burgos, and Barcelona, including construction of a residence for elderly in Barcelona.
Bonny made good friends everywhere she lived. She dearly loved her husband, John, and her children and delighted in their lives. She also delighted in her daughter-in-law, and two grandsons, and felt blessed by the opportunity to help raise and care for them. Bonny also dearly loved her faith family which was large and spanned many countries.
In 1989 Bonny and John retired from the Mennonite Board of Missions to live in Greencroft Goshen, Indiana. In retirement, she was actively involved in East Goshen Mennonite Church and in the community, volunteering for many years at the Depot, Maple City Health Clinic, Center for Healing and Hope and at Greencroft. Bonny attributed the richness of her life to God's grace and will. She is survived by John, her husband of 74 years; her children Cynthia (James Rempel) Driver, Fred (Joyce Meyer) Driver, and Jonathan Driver; grandsons Daniel and Jacob; sisters Bernice Nafziger and Vivian Murray, and brother Fred Landis. She is preceded in death by her parents Ethel Garber, stepmother Katie Gascho, and Noah Landis, and siblings Ruth Erb, Wilma Landis, Paul, Eldon, and Elmer. Amos W. Eberly, 90, formerly of Reinholds, died Thursday, August 6, 2020, after a brief illness, at Fairmount Home.
Born in East Earl, he was a son of the late Harvey B. and Lydia (Weaver) Eberly. His wife, Lucy W. (Martin) Eberly, died Dec. 22, 2009.
Amos worked in construction all his life. He generously built several homes for his family in his spare time.
He was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church. Amos valued practical, hands-on support for his family and enjoyed lifelong travel.
Surviving are 7 children, Ruth Ann (P. Ervin) Zeiset of Mohnton, Elvin E. (Doris J. King) Eberly of Plains, MT,Carl A. (Sylvia Musser) Eberly of Reinholds, Elaine F. (Jerryl) Miller of Reinholds, Debra L. (Gerald) Weinhold of Stevens, John E. (Janette Newswanger) Eberly of Robesonia, and Dawn M. (Aaron) Fisher of Prospect, VA; 36 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Mahlon (Ellen) Eberly of Stevens, Anna (Paul) Horning of Ephrata, David (Lorraine) Eberly of Ephrata, and Elva (Raymond) Martin of New Holland.
Preceding him in death are 4 siblings, Levi Eberly, Vera Martin Zimmerman, Ruth Hurst, and Alvin Eberly.

Elvin S. Ebersole, 78, of Myerstown, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. He was the husband of Sylvia Horning Ebersole.
Born in Lititz on March 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth Ebersole. Elvin was a retired farmer, and a member of the Elm Street Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Jay E. Ebersole of Myerstown; daughters Brenda M. Ebersole of Myerstown, Thelma J. wife of John D. Halteman of Lebanon, Linda F. Ebersole and Shirley A. Ebersole, both of Myerstown; brother Wilmer husband of RuthAnn (Stoner) Ebersole of Myerstown; sisters Elta S. Ebersole of Myerstown and Janet E. wife of Edwin R. Martin of Reinholds; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister Elnora S. wife of Ivan C. Diem.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2020, at the Swatara Mennonite Church. There will be a viewing at 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2020, at the church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Paul S. Ebersole, of Xenia, IL, born December 24, 1932, died October 9, 2020 at his home at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 15 days. He was a member of the Orchardville Mennonite Church. He was the son of the late Levi W. and Anna K. (Stoner) Ebersole, and the husband of the late Arlene (Herztler) Ebersole.
He is survived by two sons; Randy Meadath, Stevens, PA, and Thomas, Xenia, IL, three daughters; Doris, wife of Raymond Kraemer, Wayne City, IL, Donna, wife of Jason Gehman, Womelsdorf, PA and Gloria, wife of Timothy Ehst, Xenia, IL; 29 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest, Fredericksburg, TX and Marlin, Milton, PA, two sisters; Arlene Shenk, Lititz, PA and Dorothy, wife of Daniel Boll, Millmont, PA. He was preceded in death by three sons: a stillborn son, and infant sons; Marvin and Scott; grandson, Lyndell Gehman; one sister, Rachel Longenecker, and four brothers; Clarence. Robert Ebersole, 93, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.
He was born August 27, 1926 in La Junta, Colorado to Clarence and Ruth (Erb) Ebersole.
He married Doris Gautsche June 17, 1951 in Archbold, Ohio. She died January 13, 2018.
Survivors include four children, Donald (Carol) Ebersole of Goshen, Patricia (Joel) Zwier of Goshen, James (Carol Maynard) Ebersole of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jon (Peggy) Ebersole of Oak Park, Illinois; ten grandchildren; a great-grandchild and a brother-in-law, Mahlon Amstutz of Denver, Colorado.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Yoder and Judy Amstutz.
A graduate of Hesston College, Goshen College and Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Dr. Ebersole retired from Archbold Medical Group in 1989. He then worked part time for Sauder Woodworking in the medical department until 1996. He was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold Lions Club and medical associations. He was a member of the Archbold Parks Board and Archbold Library Board for many years.
During World War II, Dr. Ebersole served in Civilian Public Service, including at a mental hospital, in New Jersey where he became interested in studying medicine.
He loved photography, travel, gardening and camping. He passed this love on to his children and grandchildren. He was kind, positive and encouraging to all.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., at Assembly Mennonite Church, 727 New York Street, Goshen, where a noon memorial service will take place.
Memorial donations in Dr. Ebersole’s memory may be given to Mennonite Central Committee.

Ada N. Eby, 94, of 441 White Oak Road, New Holland, passed away at home on Monday, June 8, 2020.
She was the wife of the late Ezra S. Eby who died in 2012. Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Eli Z. and Mary Nolt Zimmerman.
Ada was a homemaker and a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
She is survived by eight children: Earl Z. married to Joyce (Sensenig) Eby, Denver; Ernest Z. married to Arlene (Martin) Eby, Ephrata; Everett Z. married to Donna (Hopkin) Eby, Sinking Spring; Irvin Z. married to Mabel (Burkholder) Eby, MI; Aaron Ezra married to Mary Ann (Horst) Eby, New Holland; Norman Z. Eby, at home; Ellen Z. married to Luke Rissler, KY; and Vernon Z. married to Esther (Burkholder) Eby, KY; 37 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Ella Eby of New Holland, Alta Hinkle of Fleetwood, Anna Martin of Fleetwood, and Edna wife of Willis Martin of Arbela, MO; and a sister-in-law, Anna Zimmerman of Fleetwood. She was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin Zimmerman, a sister, Lizzie Horst and by four grandchildren, Marsha Eby, Dale M. Eby, Loretta Rissler and Norman Rissler.

Earl Zimmerman Eby, 68, of Denver, died Friday, August 7, 2020 at Reading Hospital following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce (Sensenig) Eby.
Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Ezra S. and Ada N. (Zimmerman) Eby.
Earl was a truck driver for most of his life, working for Roy W. Zimmerman & Sons for 20 plus years. He was co-owner of Eby’s Oil for the last 23 years.
Earl had a heart for encouraging people. He was involved at several outreach churches, including Shiloh Mennonite Church in Reading, where he was a member. His passions throughout life included We Care Prison Ministries, playing his guitar and harmonica, and singing to bless others. He also served in many areas at the Fivepointville Fire Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Wanda married to Wilmer Hurst, Narvon, Lucinda married to Ray Hurst, Denver, Krista Martin, Narvon, Erla married to Jonnie Martin, Lancaster, 12 grandchildren: Natalie, Nicholas and Noelle Hurst, Dorian, Delaney and Davante Martin, Vanessa, Desirae, Kiara, Cayden, Logan and Paxton Martin, and seven siblings: Ernest Z. Jay Leonard Eby, 69, of Manheim, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at UMPC - Lititz. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Edwin W. and Eva Martin Eby. He was the loving husband of the late Sally L. Esh Eby who passed away in 2018. Leonard worked as a custodian for the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. He was a member of Hernley Mennonite Church, Manheim. Leonard enjoyed woodworking, gospel music, and jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving is a sister, Pauline Esh of Sun City, AZ. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Simmoneau and a brother-in-law, Harold Esh.

September 30, 1927 - October 3, 2020
Roy Z. Eby, 93, of Akron passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 3, 2020. He was a hard-working and gentle man, full of adventure, strong and brave.
Roy was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the middle son of a large farming family. He graduated from Manheim Twp. High in 1942 and Goshen College in 1952. He achieved a Masters of Sciences in Mathematics from the University of Chicago.
As an alternative to military service, Roy joined Mennonite Central Committee in Hualien Taiwan, Korea, and Viet Nam. He supported agricultural development and the introduction of medical and dental care in refugee communities. On his return, Roy launched a 25-year career as a biostatistician with the Research and Development Division, Smith Kline and French Laboratories, Philadelphia.
In Philadelphia he met Margaret Schrock, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage, and began a family of four children. The family moved to Paradise, PA to a historic active dairy farm that he ran with great care while also commuting daily by train to Philadelphia. He continued to actively farm until he approached his 80s.
Early in their marriage, Roy purchased a motel in Vintage as a gift for ‘Maggie' (as only he would call her), which she ran and ultimately converted into a personal care home for mentally ill. He strongly supported her dedicated life of service to and advocacy for mentally ill, veterans, and refugees.
In his retirement, Roy discovered the mathematical aspect of the stock market and avidly followed it until his death. He greatly enjoyed traveling to visit his family and to Europe, Africa, Viet Nam, Haiti, and South America. He took pleasure in supporting causes including building of schools and promoting peace, social justice, and non-killing politics. He actively participated in the social life of his church at Akron Mennonite.
Roy is survived by his children, Denise Eby (Abel) Konan, David Eby (Amya Miller), Diane Eby, and Sarah Eby and his grandchildren, Alexander Eby, Joseph Konan, Roy Konan, and Payton Eby Mast. He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ruby Schrock Eby.
Roy is also survived by siblings, Ethel (Ed) Miller, Aaron (Bertie - deceased) Eby, Henry (Virginia) Eby, Ann (John - deceased) Hennelly, Ruth (Marvin) Penner and Ivan (Charlotte) Eby. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Musser Eby and Anna Mae Zeiset Eby and his brothers, Martin (Lydia Pearl - deceased) Eby and Warren Eby, and sister Mary (Henry) Weaver.

Esther June Eigsti, 84, of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Shelbyville, Illinois, passed away at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020.
A private family graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2020, in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, near Shelbyville, Illinois with Pastor Lonnie Stewart officiating. Esther was born on June 27, 1936 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Carrie Lena Hostetler Eigsti. She cleaned homes and businesses in Shelbyville for many years and was also a babysitter. Esther enjoyed caring for her dogs, working crossword puzzles, and watching golf on television. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Amish Mennonite Church near Shelbyville, IL.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Mae Stewart of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law, Rosie Eigsti of Shelbyville, IL and many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leo Joseph Eigsti and Roy Eugene Eigsti; and sisters, Edna Ethel Eigsti, Mary Ellen Eigsti and Fern Elizabeth Toll.

Fred Maynard Eigsti, beloved husband of Rhoda Mae (Kropf) Eigsti, was born Sept. 19, 1932 to Chris and Lizzie (Hostetler) Eigsti at Shelbyville, Illinois.
He passed away on June 20, 2020 at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 87 years, 9 months and one day.
He accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized in his youth, and was a faithful member of the Pleasant View A.M. Church at Buffalo, MO.
On Feb. 23, 1958 he was united in marriage to Rhoda Mae Kropf, daughter of Levi and Frieda (Hostetler) Kropf, sharing the joys and sorrows of life together for over 62 years.
To this union were born 6 sons and 5 daughters; Mark and wife Violet, Buffalo, MO; Maynard and wife Beulah, Halfway, MO; Mollie and husband Tim Kempf, Buffalo, MO; Mary and husband Darrel Hostetler, Tunas, MO; Rosanna and husband Jamie Headings, Buffalo, MO; Emily and husband Bob Hostetler, Windyville, MO; Ron and wife Fern, Buffalo, MO; Jim and wife Violet, Buffalo, MO; Ruby and husband Jake Hostetler, Buffalo, MO; Will and wife Sheila, Louisburg, MO; and Andrew and wife Sherri, Buffalo, MO.
Surviving besides his wife and children are 88 grandchildren, 143 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also 3 brothers and 3 sisters; Lester and wife Gloria, Goshen, IN; Ruby Kempf, Sedalia, MO; Barbara Ann Kropf, Halfway, MO; Joe and wife Dorothy, Halfway, MO; Jim and wife Ellen, Goshen, IN; and Susie and husband Larry Hostetler, Pocahontas, AR. Also sisters-in-law Lomie Eigsti and (Orla) Sharon Hostetler.
Preceding him in death are his parents Chris and Lizzie Eigsti, 3 grandsons; Jasper, Shandon and Kellyn Eigsti; 9 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers; Carl and wife Darlene; John; Jerrold and wife Bessie; 4 sisters; Lettie; Mary Catherine; Carrie and husband Frank Pierce; and Carol Hostetler. Three brothers-in-law; Wayne Kropf, Orla Hostetler; and Orval Kempf.
Grandpa is missed and fondly remembered by his family. Above all for his fervent desire that all would do what is right.
In 2010, Grandpa and Grandma moved to their home on Jake and Ruby’s farm, creating many special memories with them there.
Grandpa was looking forward to having another grandchild, who arrived 2 days after his passing!
The family was blessed and comforted that Sherri (who was a patient at the same hospital) was allowed to go see Grandpa, and then also be there with him when he passed away, having the rest of the family on a conference line at the time.

January 18, 1946 - November 29, 2020
After a short but valiant battle with cancer, John F. Emmert, of Ligonier, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29 surrounded by his loving family that adored his adventurous, kind and generous spirit.
John was born Jan. 18, 1946 to Arthur F. and Minnie M. Emmert. He married his wife, Maxine J. Heerschop of 53 years on June 4, 1967. Together they had 3 children, Russell F. Emmert (Jessica), Mindy M. Morgan (Robby) and Jonathan D. Emmert (Kate). John was a proud “Papa” to 10 grandchildren. Mya and Ava Emmert, Ashlyn and Abby Siegel, Brody, Brant and Brock Morgan, Lincoln Penny, and Greyson and Eloise Emmert; and a brother to Pat (Roger) Franke, Fancheon (Herb) Resler, Sandra (Bob) Riegsecker and Willam (Marilyn) Emmert.
John enjoyed traveling with his beloved family, Sunday dinners gathered around the table, and family time spent together on his farm. Those were the moments that John held very near and dear to his heart.
He was a lifelong farmer and a livestock feed salesman for Moorman’s/ADM for 50 years. After retiring, he volunteered for many organizations such as Gideon’s, International, Lion’s Club International, and the Indiana Soybean Association.
John also enjoyed going on mission trips accompanied by his wife with groups such as Cairo’s Carpenters and Samaritan’s Purse. John was a member of Burr Oak Church in Ligonier, IN where he faithfully served his church as an elder and church board member for many years.
John was a wonderful example of being the hands and feet of Jesus in the way he lovingly served others by meeting whatever needs they might have. He had a very generous and giving spirit and most of all a love for fun and adventure. John enjoyed making people laugh by telling funny, animated stories about his adventures.
A funeral service will be held in John’s honor at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at Stone’s Hill Community Church, 151 W Stone’s Hill Rd, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Dick Carpenter will officiate. Burial will take place at Wright Cemetery in Albion, IN.
Family and friends will be received from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at the church, and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Cromwell-Kimmell Lions Club in John’s memory.

Edna Farmwald, 85, of Bremen, passed away at 6:41 pm, Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Signature Healthcare, Bremen. She was born November 24, 1934 to Albert and Anna (Miller) Helmuth in Arthur, IL. On March 13, 1958, she married Leroy Farmwald. He preceded her in death January 21, 2018. They lived in holy matrimony 59 years 10 months 8 days.

Martha Farmwald, age 87, of Wakarusa, passed away at 8:35 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Miller's Merry Manor after a short illness. She was born July 12, 1933 in Nappanee to Levi D. and Lizzie (Yoder) Farmwald. Martha was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her brother, Owen Farmwald, Monticello, KY; sisters, Rachel (Harvey) Miller, Spring Hill, FL, Katherine Farmwald, Warsaw, IN; sister-in-law, Polly Farmwald, Topeka, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leroy and Melvin Farmwald.

Donnabelle Fletcher, 89, of Goshen, died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her home.
Donnabelle was born on November 26, 1930 in Goshen to Harry and Emma S. (Kehr) Goodman.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Davis, Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; A sister Florence Hower of Goshen and a brother, Robert (Roberta) Goodman of Camarillo, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband LaMar Fletcher; a daughter, Betty Coffing; sisters, Erma Troyer, Mary Goodman, Clara Matthews, Ruth Lock and Imogene Creakbaum and brothers, Jasper, Leroy, Edward and Harold Goodman.
Donnabelle was employed in the Packaging Department at Miles Laboratories for 43 years, before retiring in 1992.
Donnabelle was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church.

Foth, Leroy "Lee" Karl, 72, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died March 21, 2020 at Montpelier, Williams Co., OH after an eight-year battle with cancer. He was born November 27, 1947 at Goessel, Marion Co., KS to Henry and Matilda (Kasper) Foth. He was married to Janet Borton, who survives.
Surviving are children, Michelle (Fermin) Flores; Matthew (Bobbie, Fiance) Foth; Mark (Nancy) Foth; Michael (Reyna) Foth; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Verna H. Fox, 99 of Ephrata, born June 09 1920, died Sunday March 29, 2020 at the home of her daughter, Ruth, in New Holland.
Born in East Earl Twp., she was a daughter of the late John and Lena (Hurst) Horning. Her husband, Harvey S. Fox, preceded her in death on July 12, 2005.
In addition to being a homemaker Verna was very active in sewing for needy children around the world. She loved christian singing and was a Godly example to all. She was a member of Muddy Creek Mennonite Church.
Survived by 10 children; Mary Ellen (Samuel) Stauffer Myerstown, Jay Ervin (Norma) Fox Reading, Ruth (Raymond) Bowman New Holland, Vera (Vernon) Martin Ephrata, Verna (Melvin) Good Long Island, VA, Lena (J. Martin) Hostetter East Earl, Harvey (Mary Ann) Fox Lititz, Earl (Lois) Fox Ephrata, Joan (Gerald) Nolt Forest VA. and Stanley (Janet) Fox Ephrata; 57 grandchildren; 218 great-grandchildren; 61 great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Laura Zimmerman, Minerva Good.
She was preceded in death by two sons; Carl H. (Mary) Fox Myerstown, Charles H. Fox and 3 sisters Anna Shirk, Esther Bowman, Lena Zimmerman and a brother John Horning, Jr.
Verna was given excellent care over the last 8 years by Pam Larkins.

He is survived by his wife Lucy C. Joyce E. Carpenter Frey, 71, of Mount Joy, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Stanley M. and Thelma J. Landis Carpenter. She was the loving wife of W. Kenneth Frey and they observed their 48th wedding anniversary in June of this year. A registered nurse, Joyce worked as a trauma nurse at Reading Hospital in her early years, she later was employed at the former Elizabethtown Rehabilitation Hospital, and completed her career in health care working for Dermatology Physicians in Lancaster. Joyce worshipped at East Petersburg Mennonite Church and attended Rohrerstown Mennonite Church where she was instrumental in developing and managing the "Neighbors Together" Program for both churches. Her interests included: flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, trips to the beach, and spending time in the mountains or at the lakehouse with the grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; a prayer warrior with a servant's heart. Joyce had the ability to know when friends and even strangers needed a helping hand or someone to lift their spirits in prayer. There was no holiday without the family gathering together, this was her passion to be that awesome grandma, mother, and loving wife.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Ken, are two sons, Justin K. husband of Tammy Frey, Joel K. husband of Amanda Frey both of Manheim, a daughter, Christina J. wife of Matthew Kulp of Sinking Spring, eleven grandchildren, Trevor, Toby, Ben, Ellie, Colin, Sarah, Joshua, Zach, Hannah, Rylan, and Karissa, three brothers: John husband of Mary Carpenter of Landisville, Jay husband of Ruth Carpenter of Lancaster, James husband of Arlene Carpenter of Lampeter and a sister, Mary Jane wife of Bill Sensenig of Stevens.

Dean V. Fry, 59, of Ligonier, died at 12:30 am on Wednesday, June 3 at his residence. He was born on November 14, 1960 in LaGrange County, to Vern and Wilma (Eash) Fry. On May 18, 1982 in LaGrange County he married Mary Ellen Bontrager, she survives.

Floyd Ray Fry, 59, of Topeka, died at 3:10 pm on Friday, November 13, at Goshen Health Hospital, Goshen. He was born on July 4, 1961 in LaGrange County, to Harley H. and Alice (Hostetler) Fry. On April 3, 1985 in LaGrange he married Wilma Jean Miller she survives.

On December 22, 1960 in Topeka she married Glenn I. Bontrager, he died January 12, 1976; then on November 23, 2012 in Topeka she married Harvey Fry, he survives.

Polly W. Fry, 94, of Millersburg, formerly of Yoder, KS and Fairview, MI, passed away at 12:38 am on Wednesday, November 18, at Strawberry Fields Greenhouse Village, Goshen, after a brief illness. She was born on November 12, 1926 in Yoder, KS to William D. and Susie J. (Yoder) Yoder. On October 7, 1948 in Yoder, KS she married Ora Floyd Fry, he passed away January 6, 2002.

Polly was a homemaker and had attended Yoder Mennonite Church and Fairview Mennonite Church. She had the gift of hospitality and was known for her sweet tea, fried chicken and chocolate chip cookies. She loved tending to her flower gardens, especially her roses and was gifted at piecing and quilting quilts, crochets and embroidery. She had volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, in the Women's Sewing Circle and at different relief sales. She would always light up at the sight of kittens, puppies and especially little children were such a delight to her and would bring a smile to her face.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday November 21, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday November 23, at Yoder Mennonite Cemetery, Yoder, KS. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dale Kauffman. The family and funeral home has requested that face coverings and social distancing be observed at all of the services. Memorials may be given to Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale or Northern Michigan Relief Sale.
Funk, Noah Graham

Noah Graham Funk, age 19 months of Goshen, IN, died at his residence Friday evening September 18, 2020 as a result of an accident. Noah was born on February 3, 2019 in Nappanee, IN to Tyler and Lila (Hoover) Funk.
Noah is survived by his parents, Tyler and Lila Funk of Goshen, IN; siblings, Elliot, Aubrey, Clarke, Jacob, Jesse, Stuart, Anders, Gretta and Myles all at home in Goshen, IN; paternal grandparents, Wilmer and Vivian Funk of Chambersburg, PA; maternal grandparents, Luke and Melba Hoover of New Paris, IN; maternal great grandparents, David and Miriam Hoover of Goshen, IN; 17 aunts and uncles and many cousins. Noah’s quiet way made him a favorite of all his siblings whom he loved so much.
Visitation for Noah will take place at the Ramer Mennonite Youth Center on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 6-8pm and Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. There will be a viewing and graveside service, with limited parking, at Victory Christian Fellowship Cemetery Thursday, September 24, 2020 with a funeral service to follow at 10:30am at the Ramer Mennonite Youth Center.
